MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics are located at the Summey Medical Pavilion in Nexton.
We are a pediatric outpatient clinic that falls under the Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC.
During the day we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric orthopedics, cardiology, and pulmonary, to name a few.
In addition, we provide walk‑in After‑Hours Care, a direct extension of our pediatric emergency department, serving the community when most pediatricians are closed.
Schedule
Specialty Clinics – Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
After‑Hours Care – Monday to Friday, 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm & Saturday & Sunday, 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Responsibilities Registered Nurses in MAGNET facilities provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
They direct and lead other team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to provide age‑appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards and practice.
Key duties include:
Deliver patient‑/family‑centered care using assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, and implementation of interventions.
Coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions in line with MUSC policies.
Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and exhibiting responsive, respectful, and professional behavior.
Participate in shared governance, adhere to standards of care, engage in peer review, and promote professional development.
Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes while exercising critical thinking and accountability.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma in Nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification.
Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
Active RN licensure from the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS for Health Care Providers certification.
Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors, from elevated areas, and in confined spaces.
Physical demands include lifting and carrying 50 lbs unassisted, performing repetitive hand motions, maintaining vision and hearing acuity, dealing with stressful situations, and working rotating shifts and overtime as required.
