Registered Nurse II - Children's After Hours & Specialty Clinics (Mt. Pleasant) Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. The role delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Location & Hours MUSC Children’s Health After Hours Care Mt. Pleasant is a pediatric outpatient clinic under Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC. During the day, the clinic hosts various pediatric subspecialists (pulmonary, GI, endocrinology, etc.) and provides a walk‑in After Hours Care, an extension of the pediatric emergency department.

Specialty clinics operate Monday‑Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm. After Hours care operates Monday‑Friday 3 pm – 10 pm and Saturday‑Sunday 12 pm – 7 pm.

Job Summary / Purpose Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. Scheduled work includes five 8‑hour shifts per week, rotating between day (8 am – 5 pm) and evening (3 pm – 10:30 pm) shifts, with weekends required (12 pm – 7 pm).

Minimum Training and Education

Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred; Associate or Diploma degree required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire.

Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.

Licensure, Certifications, & Registrations

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform job functions standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs; work indoors or outdoors in temperature extremes; work from elevated or confined spaces; kneel, bend, twist, squat, pinch, and fine motor tasks.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb unassisted; lift from floor to 36 in or overhead 25 lb; exert up to 50 lb of force.

Maintain 20/40 vision, hearing acuity and can manage stressful situations.

Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, latex‑safe environment, respirator use.
