Position Overview
Henry Ford Health is seeking an experienced
contingent Physician Assistant
to join the Trauma Service at
Henry Ford Providence Novi . The APP will respond to all trauma activations in the Emergency Department, perform inpatient rounding, and serve as the primary provider for trauma ICU patients. This role requires close collaboration with trauma surgeons and the APP trauma team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered trauma care.
Qualifications & Experience
ATLS certification required
Minimum of 2 years of acute trauma experience
at a Trauma Center
Demonstrated experience with
direct management of ICU patients
Ability to step into the role with
minimal orientation
New graduates will not be considered
Clinical Responsibilities
ED trauma activations and inpatient trauma care
Primary coverage for trauma ICU patients
Minimal to no operating room time
Opportunities for bedside procedures including laceration repair, wound debridement, wound vac placement, and—based on experience—chest tubes and central line placement
This position is ideal for a seasoned trauma PA seeking a hands‑on, high‑acuity clinical role within a collaborative trauma team environment.
Schedule Schedule
– Contingent. 12‑hour shifts, 6a‑630p OR 6p‑630a to achieve 24/7 coverage.
Weekend requirement Weekend requirement

General Summary Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care for injured and surgical critical care patients. Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment. Works in collaboration with trauma and surgical critical care physicians, staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in Nursing OR Bachelor's degree. Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Certified Nurse Practitioner in Michigan. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan. Current ACLS and PALS provider status. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) provider status within three (3) months of hire. OR Michigan licensure and continued certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). Current ACLS and PALS provider status. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) provider status within three (3) months of hire.
Qualifications
PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensure and Certification
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
National certification as a PA (e.g., NCCPA)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years trauma experience at Trauma Center.
Experience with direct management of ICU patients.
Skills
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Commitment to patient‑centered are and continuous professional development.
