BALTIMORE CITY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES 1510 GUILFORD AVENUE BALTIMORE, MD 21202 Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise and monitor the work performance of lower level Registered Nurses. The Community Health Nurse Supervisor provides direction, guidance, observations, and clinical oversight to lower level nursing staff and Family Support Workers licensed as Certified Nursing Assistants. The incumbent ensures universal precautions are observed to prevent contamination and disease spread, delivers customer service, adheres to compliance requirements, and influences staff awareness of operational controls. POSITION DUTIES

Evaluate potential and current In Home Aide customers for medical necessity. Provide supervisory nursing guidance to Nursing Staff in In-Home Aide Services. Supervise, plan, schedule, assign, review and monitor the work performance of staff Community Health Nurses. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Experience: None required for education; substitutable qualifications include one year of RN experience, two years of RN experience, or U.S. Armed Forces military service as a nursing officer or health care specialist on a year‑for‑year basis. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience providing quality care by interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures. One year of supervisory experience in a nursing home or hospital setting. One year of experience as a home health nurse. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland if assigned duties that require a vehicle. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees must provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached. SELECTION PROCESS

All information concerning qualifications must be submitted by the closing date. Successful candidates will be ranked Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the eligible employment list for at least one year. EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of education, training, and experience as presented on the application. A supplemental questionnaire may be used in the rating process. BENEFITS
