Job Summary The Sr Category Manager serves as an analytic, category management and consumer insights expert using the category management process as a decision platform for all initiatives designed to drive new distribution and optimize existing distribution, merchandising, pricing and promotional mix for all Home and Personal Care Categories. Working with Sales and Marketing this position will provide category management direction, consumer insights and fact‑based selling to strategic business partners while helping grow market share and profitability.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Provide fact‑based information to support strategic direction on products to Senior Management, Brand Mangers, and Category Managers based on Market Research, Syndicated Data Analysis, Customer Point of Sale data and Competitive Intelligence.
Provide strategic additional support to category team through data capture, data analysis, and planogram development.
Be able to function autonomously and make decisions independently working with commercial business unit leaders.
Develop and meet with retailers to outline specific strategies to optimize product mix, shelf/display space, merchandising tools and price promotions to more effectively reach targeted consumers.
Conduct in‑depth analysis of customer data that includes new distribution, promotion, trends and competitive analysis, pricing and promotion effectiveness.
Manage and communicate knowledge of competitive product performance and business trends. Use competitive knowledge to provide brand and category mangers product recommendations.
Work closely with sales on new products and feedback from sales and management.
Develop and deliver seamless data solution tools from various sources.
Provide leadership direct reports in the establishment of area plans, short/long term goals. Design functional area infrastructure and changes to supporting process and systems. Develop solutions to functional‑area challenges.
Education and Experience Profile
Bachelor’s degree
5+ Years’ experience in a progressive supply chain/replenishment role/operational role
Experience in the online/Omni channel preferred
SAP knowledge, inventory management and/or production experience is preferred
Required Skills
Excellence communication skills – both oral and written
Ability to excel in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
Strong knowledge of MS Office, strong excel skills
Work with syndicated data
Experience with Scintilla
Knowledge of shelf planogram software (JDA, Apollo, Spaceman)
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
Knowledge of pricing mechanisms, elasticity, and promotion analysis
Work Environment Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
