Level Qualifications

Level I. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from accredited university and 1-3 years’ experience.

Level II. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from accredited university and 3 years’ experience.

Level III. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from accredited university and 5 years’ experience.

Qualifications Team player with ability to relate and work well with others, self-motivated with ability to work without direct supervision, deadline orientated with good time management skills, attention to detail, must be able to maintain confidentiality, proficiency with computers and software systems, including Microsoft Office. Must possess a valid driver’s license with safe driving record. Must successfully complete criminal investigation background check and pre-employment drug screening. Must maintain current credentials.

Position Details (This is a sampling of duties/responsibilities of this position)

Prepare monthly, quarterly and final/closeout reports for program funding agencies as required.

Prepare bank deposits on a timely basis.

Prepare budget modifications for funding source approval.

Maintain accurate line items budgets in accounting system as approved by funding sources.

Prepare and approve journal entries as required.

Prepare quarterly 941 forms for signature and submission.

Prepare quarterly unemployment reports for signature and submission.

Prepare electronic payments for filing state tax withholdings.

Supervise preparation and submission of bi-weekly Federal payroll tax liabilities.

Complete Head Start/Early Head Start fund drawdowns.

Prepare and record agency cash receipts.

Activate new program numbers in accounting system.

Closeout and deactivate old programs in accounting system (clear trial balance).

Maintain individual grant notebooks/files.

Supervise the calculations, review and accounting of all program in-kind donations.

Supervise the payroll balancing worksheet process.

Process 401(k) and defined benefit retirement plans fund transfers.

Maintain and add distribution codes in ABRA/HRMS and MIP systems.

Maintain chart of accounts in MIP system.

Process agency health insurance and health reimbursement accounts payments.

Analyze performance data and balance sheet accounts.

Assist/coordinate the auditing process with external auditors.

Indirectly supervise all areas of accounting.

Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Assist in Accounts Payable duties as needed.

Post Journal Vouchers for payments made by EFT.
