Position Summary: The

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

plays a key leadership role in supporting the overall clinical operations of the facility. This position works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to ensure high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and the development of nursing staff. The ADON helps lead day-to-day clinical functions, oversees clinical programs, and serves as a resource, mentor, and role model for the nursing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership & Oversight

Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department.

Ensure high standards of resident care aligned with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and best practices.

Participate in daily clinical rounds to monitor resident conditions, care needs, and care delivery.

Staff Development & Supervision

Support onboarding, and ongoing training of nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs).

Provide coaching, performance feedback, and support disciplinary processes.

Help manage staffing schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Assist with facility audits, QA initiatives, and performance improvement programs.

Monitor infection control practices and support corrective actions when needed.

Ensure documentation standards are met and assist with chart reviews.

Resident & Family Communication

Serve as a point of contact for residents and families regarding care concerns.

Support care plan development and attendance at care plan meetings as needed.

Operational Support

Support survey readiness and participate in the survey process.

Assist in managing clinical supplies, equipment, and staffing resources.

Assume responsibility for the nursing department in the absence of the DON.

Qualifications:

Current RN license

in TN in good standing.

Long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience required.

Previous supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Knowledge of state and federal regulations for SNFs.

Salary/ Wage Range

Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown.
