HQ Communications Center Dispatcher/Clerk (Classification: DISPATCHER-CLERK, CALTRANS)

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Responsibilities
Receive highway condition information and disseminate it to internal and external customers, and the public.
Distribute timely and accurate dispatch and traffic information in accordance with state regulations.
Maintain databases and records consistent with MetPoll and Caltrans standards.
Monitor system equipment and perform troubleshooting as needed.
Assist the dispatcher supervisor with analysis and reporting of traffic data.
Qualifications
Must be eligible to take the Caltrans Dispatcher-Clerk examination and hold a valid state examination list.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and standard telecommunications equipment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to type quickly (40 wpm) and read maps accurately.
Basic knowledge of California highway geography and Caltrans organization.
Drug screening clearance required.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of the Caltrans Dispatcher-Clerk examination.
Current eligibility through the State Examination List or transfer, reinstatement, or leave of absence.
