Base Pay Range $19.00/hr – $22.50/hr
Responsibilities
Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, as well as in other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies.
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and manage cash registers.
Co‑coach pharmacy technicians in system operation and cashier duties when PTCB certified.
Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, greeting customers, offering assistance, and resolving issues.
Prepare prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately and adhere to company policies in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Maintain Good Faith Dispensing policy during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers in the OTC aisle.
Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
Assist inventory management activities – ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
Maintain knowledge of company asset‑protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages and shortages.
Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services (blood/urine samples) and coordinate services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Develop and maintain good relationships with local medical community and external health providers.
Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
Training & Personal Development
Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and state‑required certification.
Attend training and complete advanced pharmacy learning programs, and maintain continuing education credits.
Basic Qualifications
Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills for prescription accuracy (counting, measuring, weighing).
Prefer strong computer skills.
Prefer store inventory control knowledge.
Prefer PTCB certification.
