The incumbent will travel between the College of Medicine and FSU PrimaryHealth at 2911 Roberts Avenue.
Responsibilities
Performs and documents intake of patients in accordance with established protocols. Notifies RN/clinician and acts on priority conditions. Assists clinician with scribing and documentation as needed. Serves as a contact for outside physician offices, pharmacies, transportation, and medical facilities. Assists with appointment scheduling and/or refers patients to the appropriate clinic. Gives discharge instructions to patient. Floats as LPN in other clinics as assigned.
Collects lab specimens, administers, documents procedures, treatments, medications, and immunizations as ordered. Monitors patient for potential side effects and allergic reactions and reports to RN/clinician. Assists health professionals with exams, procedures, and treatments. Cleans exam table and instruments after use in accordance with Infection Control standards. Assists in maintaining medications/supply stock, emergency box, and oxygen supply. Maintains orderly work areas, records, and logs as required.
Assists with patient needs between visits. Triages patient phone calls and provides in‑basket management support for clinicians. Notifies patients of test results and other follow‑ups needed. Manages patient expectations and is able to resolve patient concerns independently. Schedules diagnostic testing and obtains prior authorizations as needed. Assists with traces and regulatory readiness for quality and patient care. Participates in special projects. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Section 210, Florida Administrative Code.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification issued by a certifying agency, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
Within 30 Days Of Hire, You Must Provide
Documentation of Tetanus immunization within 10 years.
Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccine or positive antibody titer.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with applicable computer software and programs, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Electronic Health Records, or comparable programs.
Experience demonstrating effective customer service skills.
Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationshipsli>
Experience utilizing problem‑solving skills.
Experience maintaining accurate records and retrieving files from active/archive sources.
Knowledge of medical resources and terminology.
