Position Summary We are hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Lihue, HI.

Compensation & Bonuses

Hourly Pay: $34.12 per hour

Sign‑On Bonus: $2500 (Ryder pays $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days)

Tool Box Incentive: $300 yearly allowance

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter – four times per year

Schedule: Monday – Friday, Weekends OFF

Hours: First Shift 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A required; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

Minimum 2–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in mechanical repair and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment

Proficiency with basic tools and mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines (routine preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake and tire work)

Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems required

Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

Ability to drive Ryder vehicles and pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check

All additional certification required by location; SBTIII training within 180 days; complete 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days (specific to fleet mix)

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties (standard and preventive maintenance)

Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable

Complete detailed mechanics inspections & repairs with minimal supervision

Replace defective components as instructed

Work unsupervised on most tasks; mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints after task assignment

Use shop management system and electronic documentation

Adhere to federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Other support duties as required (e.g., service island support)

Complete required training (SBTIII, OEM courses)
