Experience: No experience required.
License & Certification: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), provisional license or active compact state RN license in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds daily and 25–50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injuries from patients or sharp instruments may occur.
Shift: Two 12‑hour night shifts every Friday‑Saturday or Saturday‑Sunday as part of the Weekend Premium Pay Plan (WEPP). Work 24 hours/week, paid for 36 hours/week.
Job Summary The primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a nursing care plan; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants); and adhering to University policies and regulations. The role promotes collaboration among nursing staff and physicians to improve communication and patient outcomes.
Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring model.
Proficient direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills.
Basic computer navigation and internet skills.
Effective, respectful communication with patients, families, colleagues, and physicians.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation abilities.
A proactive, confident advocate for patients and families.
Excellent teamwork and independent work skills.
Exceptional technical abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN plus at least 1 year of RN experience.
