Position Overview
Wildlife Mitigation Biologist II – Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation and Conservation (DFWRC), Natural Resources Department, Polson, MT.
Qualifications
Masters degree in Wildlife Biology or Wildlife Management. Specific coursework: mammal and bird identification, plant identification, wildlife ecology, advanced statistics, plant ecology, and general wildlife biology.
Direct experience in research design, data entry, statistical analysis, compilation of scientific research reports.
Ability to analyze difficult situations and respond calmly in public settings.
Desirable: Eligibility for professional certification by The Wildlife Society.
Ability to operate motor vehicles, motor boats, nets, traps, 4x4 vehicles, all‑terrain vehicles, and communications equipment.
Physical stamina to plant, handle captive animals, lift loads, and perform physical labor.
Supervisory experience to review the work of others.
Valid driver’s license.

Proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe (if other than CSKT).

Mandatory pre‑hire drug test and six‑month probationary period (if not already employed by CSKT).
Note: This position is not a testing designated position (TDP) under CSKT Drug Testing policy.
Compensation Salary range $30.82 to $35.42 per hour. Benefits include Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement, Long‑term Disability, and PTO & Paid Holidays.
