Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

Position Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance: Ensure all E&I activities comply with Capstone Copper values, MSHA regulations, site policies, and industry standards. Promote a strong safety culture and consistent application of safe work practices.

Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and coach the E&I team. Conduct performance reviews, support professional development, and foster a culture of accountability and technical excellence.

Preventive Maintenance & Execution: Plan and execute preventive maintenance for electrical and instrumentation assets. Participate in short‑ and long‑term planning, down‑day reviews, and post‑mortem activities to maximize equipment availability and reliability.

Resource & Cost Management: Allocate manpower, tools, and equipment to achieve planned maintenance objectives while meeting production and budget targets. Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate contractor services as needed.

Work Management & Reporting: Use SAP and other systems to track work orders, monitor KPIs, and report maintenance performance. Ensure accurate documentation and continuous improvement of work practices.

Collaboration & Field Leadership: Partner with Operations, Processing, and other departments to ensure maintenance supports production goals. Maintain a field presence to verify systems, controls, and procedures are applied consistently.

Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

Position Requirements Required

Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience with electrical and instrumentation systems.

At least 3 years of supervisory experience in maintenance within a mining or mineral processing environment.

Strong technical knowledge of E&I systems and preventive maintenance practices.

Experience using Microsoft Office and SAP for work order management and reporting.

Knowledge of mine operations, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.

Valid U.S. Driver’s License (must obtain an Arizona Driver’s License).

Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.

Preferred

Previous experience in mining or mineral processing operations.

Completion of applicable in‑house E&I certifications.

Strong problem‑solving skills, including Root Cause Analysis.

Familiarity with reliability and continuous improvement methodologies.

All candidates will be required to complete a pre‑employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre‑placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol‑free workplace.
