Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent, the Caltrans Maintenance Complete Streets Supervisor coordinates and assigns work of employees engaged in the maintenance of Complete Streets facilities—sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike ways—on State highways. In addition to assigning and overseeing the crew, the incumbent reviews and approves work orders, performs site inventory verification and condition assessment of facilities, enforces safety, health policies and procedures as contained in the Department’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). The incumbent may be required to work overtime, irregular shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends; may work temporary and/or intermittent varied work shifts; and may be required to respond to emergency situations and calls. The incumbent may be required to operate equipment requiring a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a tank endorsement, train others to operate such equipment, and supervise employees who must possess a Class A CDL. The role may involve travel to removal locations and staying overnight as needed.

Special Requirements

A valid, unrestricted Class C driver’s license is required while performing duties associated with maintaining the State Highway system; a valid, unrestricted Class A or B license is desirable to train crew members on commercial equipment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State‑owned or leased vehicle.
