The primary function of this position is to test, calibrate, install, repair and inspect monitoring and recording devices. Another function is to perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance and rebuilds on the same equipment. Another responsibility is to protect the integrity and operation of these devices. The Technician must follow established performance levels and product quality standards. The Instrumentation Technician will monitor and communicate operating shift activities with supervision as well as the other shift’s and departments. Performing preventive maintenance and suggesting predictive maintenance repairs to reduce business unit downtime will be the continuous improvement tasks for this position.

JOB DUTIES

Proficiency on different Instrument, communication and calibration protocols like 4-20 mA, 0-10 VDC, Hart Communicator, PID tuning and calibration. 3-15 PSI I/P’s and a proficient knowledge of CCP’s

Coordinating electrical and instrument plans between three shifts of instrument control technicians performing technical maintenance and repairs on equipment as well as installations

Assist in creating and verifying current spare parts inventories for plant equipment

Assist in managing and reducing repair costs

Ensure scheduled work assignments are completed in a timely manner and required documentation completed

Responsible for opening/closing and completing work orders for repairs

Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, calibrates and tests a wide variety of industrial instrumentation that record, indicate, control and regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature, position and water analysis

Troubleshoots telemetry and process controller hardware

Maintains a functional knowledge of the operation of the telemetry system software and hardware

Makes periodic preventative maintenance inspections of all metering control instruments, diagnosing existing or potential trouble

Cleans, lubricates, calibrates and adjusts as conditions of all metering control instruments as indicated

Plan, install and place into service new metering controlling and recording devices, calibrating as required, and extend or connect related electrical circuits when needed

Support the calibration of test apparatus and equipment and recordkeeping of said equipment

Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree in related field; or four (4+) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge of database software, Intranet and Internet software, WMS Warehouse Management Systems

Experience in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word and Access

Proven, reliable work history

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent communication/interpersonal skills

Ability to interact with a diverse employee population and with internal/external customers in an effective, professional manner

Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze and interpret common /technical journals and drawings /diagrams, financial reports, and legal documents

Ability to manage multiple projects/repairs simultaneously, set priorities, pro-actively resolve challenges in a fast paced, high pressure environment

Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in a fast paced, high volume food production/manufacturing facility

Prior working knowledge of OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, USDA and EPA regulations

Knowledge of JDE software

May be required to walk, sit, stand, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch

Ability to lift and/or move 50+ lbs

Occasional exposure to cold (34 degrees) or sub‑zero temperatures
