Position Information Grow your career as a Victim Witness Advocate II in the District Attorney's Office. Salary up to $47.33 per hour (approximately $98,783 annually) and a competitive total compensation package.

We are recruiting for an ongoing Victim Witness Advocate I position and a time‑limited Victim Witness Advocate II position funded through March 31, 2026. Candidates must apply through the appropriate recruitment for their desired level.

Responsibilities

Manage an independent caseload of victims.

Advocate for victims and individuals experiencing crisis situations.

Prioritize multiple assignments in a fast‑paced environment.

Observe and listen to the needs of the victim.

Engage with a diverse population, under‑served communities, and immigrants.

Represent the division at community events and outreach activities.

Ideal Candidate

Multiple years of experience working with crime victims.

Background in Social and Behavioral studies, Sociology, Psychology, or related fields.

Experience with high‑trauma and crisis situations.

Experience working with diverse socio‑economic and cultural backgrounds.

Understanding of cultural competence and inclusion.

Knowledge of Latin American and Asian American Pacific Islander cultural practices and history.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Mandarin, English/Korean, English/Punjabi, English/Triki, or English/Polynesian) preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum two years of public contact experience in law enforcement, counseling, or a related public or private agency.

Familiarity with the criminal justice process.

Relevant coursework in sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology, or a closely related field.

Valid California driver’s license and required endorsements.

Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation.

Background and Application Process Applicants must complete a 40‑hour advocate training program, shadowing, and outreach events. The position requires work on weekends and after normal business hours as needed. Applications must include a supplemental questionnaire and will be evaluated using an Application and Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination (100% weight).
