Georgia‑Pacific is looking for a diverse group of talented, self‑driven, and experienced Maintenance Technicians to join our team at the Gypsum facility in Fort Dodge, IA. We’re hiring across multiple maintenance disciplines, including multi‑knowledge level Maintenance Technicians – Mechanical, Millwrights, and Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians. We’re seeking highly skilled professionals with strong troubleshooting abilities and a deep understanding of safe work practices to maintain and repair manufacturing equipment. These roles are critical to our success, as they support increased equipment uptime and reliability through both preventive and corrective maintenance, helping the facility consistently achieve its production and quality goals.
What You Will Do
Follow all plant safety and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines, while actively engaging in and supporting the facility’s safety programs
Troubleshoot, repair and maintain industrial equipment
Identify root causes and implement long‑term solutions
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
Conduct routine inspections and perform preventative maintenance to enhance equipment reliability and minimize downtime
Accurately document maintenance activities, including labor hours and key findings from preventative maintenance inspections
Strategically utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
Utilize strong diagnostic skills to minimize downtime and improve reliability
Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment
Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams across operations and other departments to support facility goals and initiatives
Clear communication, both verbally and in writing
Continuous learning of new technologies and processes
Actively contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency
Work in a hot, humid, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
One (1) year of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, production, military or agricultural environment OR a combination of relevant experience and a maintenance technical degree or Engineering associate degree
What Will Put You Ahead
Experience working with conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Five (5) or more years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, production, military or agricultural environment
Experience reading and understanding mechanical or electrical drawings/schematics
Experience with Preventative, Predictive and Proactive maintenance
Experience in precision alignment, equipment installation, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating
Experience in troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical circuits up to 480 volts
Experience diagnosing and repairing bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
Experience with systems integration i.e.: PLC, HMI, Instrumentation, Networking, Communication setup and commissioning. (Allen Bradley or CTI PLC experience is a plus) (PLC programming is not a requirement)
