Description of Work This is an anticipated vacancy.

The primary purpose of this position is to review medical records, statements from attending physicians, driving records, and complete recommendations on behalf of the Division regarding the status of a citizen’s driving privileges. The Nurse Supervisor will also perform training functions for the nursing staff, review work of assigned staff, assist with interviewing and selecting staff, interpret and provide input for the Standard Operating Policies and Procedures, and resolve minor discipline and other employee relations issues. The position is responsible for reviewing reconsideration and hearing requests and requesting additional information as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Management Preferences

Considerable knowledge of professional nursing theory, techniques, practices including an understanding of occupational health principles and familiarity with state and federal regulations.

Skill in Leadership and staff management to include the ability to supervise nursing staff, coordinate schedules, and skilled in coaching, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution within a multidisciplinary environment.

Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DMV and state public health guidelines regarding medical clearances, workplace safety, and health screenings.

Ability to analyze medical data and manage reports including collecting and interpreting medical data, maintaining confidential medical records, and preparing statistical reports for management.

Ability to communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders including strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with staff, state officials, and external healthcare providers.

Salary Grade and Salary Range MH18 Salary Range: $69,027 - $113,896

This position requires knowledge of anatomy, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, and related disciplines. It also requires thorough knowledge of the current principles, standards, and practice of public health nursing. Must possess the ability to read and understand medical notes.

Training and experience in the ways medical impairments may affect driving and knowledge of the legal rights of licensed drivers is also beneficial.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of nursing experience.
