Responsibilities
Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth
Take and develop dental X-rays
Conduct oral cancer screenings and periodontal assessments
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized oral health care instructions
Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed
Assist the dentist during procedures and maintain a sterile working environment
Document patient treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information in electronic dental records systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft)
Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality
Adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean dental environment
Qualifications
Valid state Dental Hygiene license
Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program
Radiology certification
Proficiency in medical terminology and knowledge of dental anatomy
Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control procedures
Experience with medical imaging equipment and techniques
Strong patient assessment skills to identify oral health conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients on oral health care practices
Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other dental professionals
Skills
Proficient in using Open Dental for managing patient records and scheduling appointments
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
Competent in medical documentation to accurately record patient information and treatment plans
Understanding of infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile dental environment
Familiarity with dental imaging techniques for capturing high-quality radiographs
