Responsibilities
Develop concepts and plans for facility growth or change in service as well as capital upkeep and replacement, advising each facility managing director on planning and implementation related to buildings and campus.
Work closely with RVP, C‑suite, RFM/DPO, FF&E, and IT to develop project scope and price, differentiating priority business needs from “nice‑to‑have” items.
Ensure projects are completed on budget and schedule while incorporating the latest Behavioral Health/Acute best practices; manage multiple large projects with some supervision.
Develop and engage project teams through competitive RFP process, guiding projects through local, state (HCAI/CDPH), and federal building restrictions and code compliance.
Take a leadership role in finding new methods to execute work faster and more efficiently, challenging assumptions and proposing innovative ideas.
Maintain vendor ranking, re‑engage high‑performance firms, and use historical cost and schedule data to predict future project cost and time.
Ensure all project parties have executed contracts with UHS and provided required insurances before work commences, maintaining highest ethical standards and fair business terms.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in healthcare construction management.
Strong construction implementation experience and some development experience with code and permit knowledge.
Negotiating skills and strong interpersonal skills to lead vendors and make solid business decisions.
Experience with HCAI/OSHPD and CDPH regulatory processes, tracking, engaging, and managing projects as facility representative.
Travel 25‑50%.
