Human Resources Coordinator Reports To : Sr. Human Resources Manager Hours : Full-time Classification : Hourly Requisition # : 1651

Overview The Human Resources Coordinator facilitates human resource processes at all business locations, including new hire onboarding, benefits administration, and employee relations.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation, including background checks, offer letters, and virtual onboarding communications.

Prepare and maintain I‑9 forms, verify documentation, and file personnel records.

Assume customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.

Collaborate with payroll on exceptions, enrollments, changes, and terminations of health and welfare plans.

Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers for accurate record‑keeping and deductions.

Assist with the annual performance review process.

Track recruitment status in HRIS and send follow‑up letters at the end of the recruiting cycle.

Maintain effective use of plans and promote positive employee relations.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in HR‑related field (Bachelor’s preferred).

1–3 years of Human Resources experience within the state of California.

1 year of experience in the non‑profit sector.

Familiarity with new hire process, group benefits, Leave of Absence/FMLA/CFRA guidelines, and recruitment processes.

Skills

Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.

Familiarity with applicant tracking database systems is an asset.

Strong multitasking ability and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

Solid working knowledge of MS Office.

Benefits and Compensation

Competitive hourly wage of $25–$28.

403(b) plan starts on first day with company contribution of 13% of employee 3% after one year.

Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. Frequently required to walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Keyboard data entry required.

Work Environment Working with people experiencing homelessness may present challenges such as exposure to infestations, unpleasant odors, poor hygiene, mental health symptoms, poverty, and the possibility of profanity or physical expressions of anger. Employees may encounter situations of profanity, sexually explicit or derogatory language. Step Up provides training to deescalate crisis situations and has procedural safeguards to mitigate risks.
