Electrician
Perform installation, repair, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and systems, including motors, controllers, transformers and lighting systems, as directed. Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm systems. Access information utilizing computers. Promote a workplace culture which encourages safety within the field and shop. Operate a university vehicle, and may be required to operate an aerial lift. Actively engage in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering effective customer experience.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma
Vermont Journey Electrical License
One year experience in electrical systems
Basic computer skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain driver’s check
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. occasionally
Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing specific job tasks
Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and physical screening
Anticipated Pay Range $25 to $35/hour
Other Information This position may be hired at either the Journey or Master Electrician level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Special Conditions
Bargaining Unit Position – United Electrical Workers
Occasional evening and/or weekend work required (may result in overtime)
External candidates must complete a 4‑month probationary period
Probationary period may be required for current UVM employees
40‑hour work week
Background check required for this position
Post‑offer pre‑employment (POPE) physical examination required

Union Position Yes, UE ($18.50 minimum hourly rate)
