Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for GEAR UP Coordinator, Dr William W Sullivan, Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach [R0149553]. This position works under the general direction of the assistant director for GEAR UP and is responsible for managing the activities conducted within the GEAR UP schools. The coordinator will oversee counseling, instruction, and mentoring of participants, coordinate parental involvement activities, tutoring sessions, and after‑school programs, and assist in collecting and evaluating student and parent information. The coordinator will work to ensure coordination of activities with other CAEO projects and related federal and non‑federal programs, facilitate positive working relationships with the school district and personnel, remain current on TRIO and GEAR UP trends, regulations, methods, and philosophies, and support both academic and administrative functions within the Center. This is a non‑exempt, full‑time position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent education and experience.

Two (2) years of professional experience in a related field.

Valid Nevada driver’s license and ability to pass a federal background check and obtain a CCSD ID Badge.

Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

Additional experience can supplement education requirements:

Four (4) additional years of relevant experience in place of a bachelor’s degree.

Associate’s degree plus two (2) additional years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Direct experience with TRIO, GEAR UP, or similar grant‑funded projects.

Supervisory experience.

Proficiency in counseling academically at‑risk, under‑resourced students.

Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills, with ability to coordinate online communication with students.
