Job Overview
TEKsystems is hiring cable technicians to support pulling cable and terminating keystone‑style jacks at a large construction site in Austin, Texas.
Responsibilities include pulling, terminating, and testing Cat5/6 and fiber optic cables; installing other cabling infrastructure such as racks, cabinets, and network racks in server rooms; and reviewing all job documentation for assigned projects, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, conduit call‑outs, wall elevations, signal flow diagrams, and cable pull schedules.
The role requires frequent standing, climbing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, stooping, handling objects, typing, reaching with the arms, talking, and hearing. Visual demands include close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Power tools will be used and lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
Skills & Qualifications
Cat5, cabling, cable installation
Experience with pulling, terminating, and testing Cat5/6 and fiber optic cables
Knowledge of rack, cabinet, and server room installations
Employment & Compensation Contract-to-Hire position based in Austin, TX. Pay range: $20.00–$21.00/hr.
