Purpose of the position This position assists the director in the oversight and monitoring of the 84-bed competency based evaluation and restoration program located at Peak View Behavioral Health. The role primarily responds to and screens referrals for hospital‑purchased restoration beds, assesses patient acuity and treatment needs, and determines appropriate admissions or transfers.

It also provides clinical oversight to contracted private hospital beds and serves as a clinical team lead, assisting Health Professional III’s in delineating appropriateness between private hospital programs and jail‑based restoration programs.

Additional responsibilities include oversight of the 78‑bed competency‑based program at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility and the 18‑bed program in Denver County, gathering performance data for OCFMH and CDHS, writing departmental policies, improving processes, and conducting audits of hospital‑purchased and jail‑based restoration programs. Site visits, contract negotiations, and coordination with multiple agencies are also core duties.

Job Duties

Screen Referrals for Admission to Hospital‑Purchased Beds

– Gather referrals from sources such as the referral table, CMHHIP and CMHHIFL, court services, county jails, and databases. Apply established criteria to determine admissions, transfers, and discharges, analyze records and assessments, and make timely placement decisions.

Work Lead to Health Professional III’s for Admission to Jail‑Based Beds

– Assist Health Professional III’s in using criteria for admissions and transfers to jail‑based restoration beds, delineate appropriateness between jail‑based programs and hospital‑purchased beds, and provide clinical judgment on placement needs.

Program Implementation and Monitoring Contractor Performance

– Serve as contract monitor using data, site visits, and audits to assess contractor performance at hospital‑purchased locations, support clinical oversight, liaise with contractors, and participate in on‑call responsibilities. Provide data collection, analysis, and reporting to OCFMH and CDHS.

Admission Coordination and Reporting

– Collaborate with stakeholders (state psychiatric facilities, county jails, court agents, contractors, CMHHIP, and others) to ensure communication for admissions and discharges. Assist with data tracking, collection, and reporting, contribute to presentations, and serve as a consultant and liaison.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven (7) years of relevant experience in a related occupation.

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to seven (7) years.

Special Qualification Master's level education in a mental health/social work‑related field (e.g., clinical psychology, forensic psychology) and a current license as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor in Colorado. Prefer experience with competency to stand trial and work with the severely mentally ill in acute settings.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with competency to stand trial and work with severe and persistently mentally ill patients in acute settings.

Excellent computer skills, including fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail, and Google Applications, and the ability to quickly learn new software.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent time and organizational skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in both independent and team situations.

Ability to prioritize work tasks independently and collaborate with team members.

Frequent in‑state travel between offices (CMHHIP, CMHHIFL, and various detention facilities and hospitals).
