Summary of Job Duties This position works under supervision and provides comprehensive support for patient care activities. The role may meet, greet, and assist the public, answer telephones and/or coordinate appointments, referrals, consults, tests and/or procedures, check‑in and register patients, check‑out patients, collect payments and issue receipts, verify insurance coverage, respond appropriately to third‑party payer requirements, assist with coordinating hospital admissions and surgery scheduling, and perform all duties of the Access Coordinator I level. This PRN position allows up to 1,000 hours.
Job Responsibilities
Schedules, reschedules, and coordinates appointments using hospital systems by performing visit notifications.
Collects co‑pays, deductibles, and/or payments for patient accounts and conducts pre‑registration as needed, inputting and updating accurate patient information.
Conducts insurance verification and benefits explanation by running eligibility and requesting outside records.
Works and completes work queue daily, assisting other teams as needed.
Meets, greets, and assists the public and answers telephone calls professionally and friendly.
Deals with conflicts positively using careful listening and negotiation skills to resolve disagreements.
Consistently utilizes communication devices and keeps accurate records as required, demonstrating effective service‑recovery skills.
Attends required training sessions, staff meetings, orientation, and contributes to annual educational needs assessments.
Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High School, GED, or formal educational equivalent.
2 years direct customer service or healthcare experience.
Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write.
Computer and basic keyboard skills, telephone etiquette, and general knowledge of office machines including printers and scanners.
Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred; expected to be competent within 3 months of hire.
Registration experience preferred.
Salary Information $15.26 per hour
