Summary of Job Duties The Access Coordinator works under supervision and provides comprehensive support for patient care activities.

The position may meet, greet, and assist the public, answer telephones, coordinate appointments, referrals, consults, tests and/or procedures, check‑in and register patients, check‑out patients, collect payments, issue receipts, verify insurance coverage and respond appropriately to the requirements of third‑party payers.

Responsibilities

Schedule patient appointments, follow‑ups, imaging (MRI, CT), and diagnostic tests.

Coordinate pre‑op and post‑op visits for neurosurgery or other procedures.

Work with providers to manage complex care plans across specialties (neurology, radiology, physical therapy, etc.).

Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.

Obtain prior authorizations for procedures, imaging, or specialist referrals.

Communicate with insurance companies and patients regarding coverage issues or delays.

Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and clinical teams.

Provide patients with instructions related to appointments, procedures, or referrals.

Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED plus 2 years of customer service or healthcare experience.

Must be able to perform all duties of the Access Coordinator I and II level.

Basic proficiency with computers and data entry (MS Office preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Health‑care Access Associate (CHAA) Certification.

Experience with external radiology testing.

Knowledge of CPT codes and/or medical terminology.

Three (3) years of experience in registration, billing, or scheduling in a health‑care environment.

Salary Information $31,740.80 ($15.26/hr)
