Job Summary Assist Georgia Southern University EHS program regarding environmental programs and occupational safety. Respond to emergencies related to hazardous waste and lead the campus in preventing any related issues. The EHS Specialist may also perform similar tasks on the Statesboro Campus to support the needs of the department.
Responsibilities
Respond to work order requests for pickups of hazardous waste, universal waste, or biomedical waste
Perform routine inspections of labs, shops, eyewashes/showers, and environmental compliance areas
Provide assistance with annual certification of laboratory ventilation systems (chemical fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, and local exhaust systems)
Maintain accurate and concise records
Respond to incidents, customer requests, emergencies, and site clean‑ups
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or related field
One (1) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of regulations governing EHS programs and experience in higher education, research laboratories, environmental consultation, or comparable institutional environment
Salary $17.55 – $21.97 per hour (non‑exempt, bi‑weekly)
