Facilities/Equipment Maintenance Technician
Location: Pruntytown Correctional Center, Taylor County, WV
Seniority: Mid‑Senior level, full‑time.
Overview Under general supervision, performs maintenance and repair of heating, cooling, ventilation and mechanical equipment in public buildings. Uses a variety of instruments, performs routine preventive plumbing maintenance, supervises Ground Crews, calculates and orders material.
Responsibilities
Maintain and repair heating, cooling, ventilation and mechanical equipment.
Use OHM meters, AMP meters, thermometers, hydrometers, conductivity meters, light meters, sound meters, dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers.
Perform routine preventive plumbing maintenance.
Supervise Ground Crews.
Calculate and order material.
May work in asbestos or other environmental issues with proper training.
Shift work and call back work may be required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; apprenticeship or technical training preferred.
Four years of full‑time experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or mechanical trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work.
Experience in air‑conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for required training on a year‑for‑year basis.
Valid driver’s license.
Certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization may be required for refrigerant recycling.
