About the Facility The Colorado Correctional Health Improvement Program (CMHIP) provides specialized medical and surgical support services to populations at CMHIP and other designated public agencies. Services are available 24/7.
Position Overview Part‑time .22 FTE with an on‑call rotation assigned by the department director. Approximately 8 hours per week. The role requires work at the assigned location during scheduled work times. Shift work and on‑call availability may be required.
Responsibilities
Administer respiratory modalities and EEGs to acute and chronically ill patients in compliance with the physician’s prescription.
Assess and record patient therapy to ensure appropriateness of treatment.
Maintain 24‑hour response when on call and be available for shift work as needed.
Exchange and relate appropriate information gained from seminars, journals and other resources to aid understanding of treatment purpose and outcomes.
Interrelate with nursing and other staff to coordinate the continuum of care and increase awareness of respiratory care modalities, EEGs and pulmonary functions.
Equipment and Service Recommendations
Recommend services based on medical staff input, customer needs, cost justification and clinical knowledge.
Recommend new equipment, service providers and alternatives to the medical staff.
Recommend new services to the department director.
Emergency Response
Respond to all cardiopulmonary arrests while on duty or on call and initiate and maintain ventilatory support as required.
Other Duties as Assigned
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
Licensed in the State of Colorado as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT).
One year of professional experience as a licensed Respiratory Therapist.
Additional appropriate experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of mental illness.
At least two years of professional experience in clinical respiratory care.
Ability to be on site within 20 minutes of notification.
Employment Conditions
Pre‑employment physical examination.
State of Colorado residency required at time of application and throughout employment.
On‑call eligible.
May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious diseases and sharps injuries.
Must pass a tuberculosis test.
Pre‑employment criminal background check required.
