Essential Responsibilities
Ensure Quality of Care and Exceptional Customer Service through:
Patient Communication Management: Greet patients in a friendly, professional manner using proper telephone etiquette; follow up on missed and cancelled appointments; triage patient’s needs to schedule appropriately.
Patient Education: Provide education on the purpose and expectations of their appointment; make patients aware of insurance eligibility.
Practice Success: Capture appointments; effectively manage and optimize schedules; collect and enter thorough demographic data and verify its accuracy.
This is a call center medical environment.
Education And/Or Experience
High school graduate, or equivalent.
Previous medical office experience is preferred.
Competencies
Polite, professional, and courteous.
Focus on provision of quality care and service excellence.
Proficient in EHR, including proven competency in accuracy of data entry.
Proficient with optometric medical terminology.
Recognition of the exam process and ability to record exam details.
Effective communication in person, by phone, and in writing.
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
Dependable and self‑motivated.
Proactive, adaptable, working under pressure to accomplish projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Environment And Physical Demands
Physical activity: Talking, hearing.
Physical requirements: Sedentary work; involves sitting most of the time.
Required visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
Personal Development
Staff members are required to meet training expectations within the initial 90‑day probationary period.
Obtaining certification through an optometric certification program is encouraged; BVEP will aid all employees eligible for the Employee Career Development Program.
