Supervisor Maintenance Services
Ryder System, Inc. invites qualified candidates to apply for the Supervisor Maintenance Services role. This position supports the Manager, Maintenance Services or Senior Manager, Maintenance Services I or II by managing operations and personnel for a shift at a designated location.
Job Summary The Supervisor oversees up to 10 technicians, ensuring business objectives and labor requirements are met while balancing financial, operating, quality, safety, and asset targets. The role requires cross‑functional training to back up others within the shop and adherence to all Ryder Maintenance Operations policies and procedures. This could be a development path to the Manager, Maintenance Services role.
Essential Functions
Workflow Management: Analyze, plan, and schedule work; assign tasks to technicians; track productivity and shift meetings; review and approve repair orders; manage warranty processes; communicate with customers; conduct yard checks, site visits, and customer engagement.
Labor Management: Provide management, training, and development for all personnel; oversee performance management of assigned staff.
Customer Management: Maintain customer relationships, resolve issues, ensure vehicle uptime, handle PM scheduling and follow‑up, manage breakdowns, and conduct customer visits as needed.
Financial Management: Control costs related to maintenance operations, manage the location’s P&L, execute maintenance initiatives, oversee payroll, purchase orders, invoice reconciliation, fuel reconciliation, and the customer bill‑back process; ensure accurate reporting in the Management Online system.
Quality Management: Conduct quality inspections of PM & repairs; perform in‑process reviews of non‑PM work; conduct root‑cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and communicate with the Technical Assistance Center; maintain cleanliness and quality of repair; partner with the Manager to prioritize work based on trends; develop and implement quality assurance audit corrective actions and continuous improvement programs; ensure compliance with safety and EPA regulations.
Asset Management: Direct direct reports in maintaining location appearance and operations; assess tooling and equipment needs; manage vehicle specifications, in‑service/out‑of‑service status; oversee parts inventory, policies, and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
Professional representation of Ryder and competent interaction with customer management.
Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge.
Capacity to understand labor, financial, and quality planning.
Strong sense of personal accountability and a proven track record of achieving desired results.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED (Required).
Associate’s degree (Preferred).
Bachelor’s degree (Preferred).
0–1 year with Shop Management Systems (Preferred).
One to three or more years in a maintenance operations environment, with demonstrated success in a Ryder role considered as a substitute (Required).
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Required).
Travel 0–10%.
Compensation Information Salary range: $68,000 – $73,000 per year. The position may be eligible for annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive plan based on level or type.
