Inventory Specialist – Walgreens

Base pay range: $19.00/hr - $22.00/hr

Responsibilities

Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy.

Support pharmacy inventory management activities, including receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.

Champion On‑Shelf Availability and oversee receiving, counting, pricing, returns, and all in‑store inventory processes.

Validate and ensure accuracy of planograms.

Review and coordinate proper use of reports and system applications impacting inventory accuracy and pricing.

Maintain front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse and vendor overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods.

In designated stores, open and close the store in the absence of management, managing start‑ups, cash handling, and cashier responsibilities.

Engage customers by greeting them, offering assistance, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.

Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes.

Scan deliveries, verify pharmacy shipments, and complete posting of orders.

Complete On‑Shelf Availability (OSA) end‑to‑end process for planogrammed departments.

Execute pricing activities including price changes, markdowns, and regulatory pricing tasks.

Support front end and pharmacy ordering and monitor manual orders for excess.

Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure compliance with state and local laws.

Assist in preparing for physical inventory and support associated activities.

Maintain clean and merchandised counters and shelves.

Coaches store team on package delivery activities and pickup program execution.

When serving as leader on duty, perform POS responsibilities and handle returns and refunds.

Comply with company policies, maintain respectful relationships, and complete additional tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Attend company‑based trainings and complete all e‑learning modules, including safety training.

Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state.

Communications

Serve as liaison between management and non‑management team members, coaching and developing capabilities.

When serving as leader on duty, communicate assigned tasks and report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.

Basic Qualifications

Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).

Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

“Achieving expectations” rating on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months (internal candidates only).

Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi‑task and manage execution.

Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.

Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
