The
Catholic Administrative Pastoral Life Coordinator
provides administrative and pastoral support to the Roman Catholic community at Fort Irwin U.S. Army Garrison. This role supports the Catholic Chaplain and Priest in planning and coordinating worship services, maintaining sacramental records, managing parish communications, and organizing Catholic community events in accordance with Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) guidance and U.S. Army Chaplain Corps policies. This is a part‑time, non‑personal services contract position with a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and selected holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Catholic Administrative Pastoral Life Coordinator will:
Attend weekly coordination meetings with the Religious Support Office.
Prepare liturgical books, Eucharistic elements, and worship materials for Mass services.
Develop and distribute parish communications, including:
Monthly Catholic Community calendar
Weekly bulletins and announcements
Maintain Catholic community registration and participation records.
Collect, organize, and maintain sacramental documentation and enter required information into the
AMS portal .
Coordinate Catholic community events, including facility reservations, scheduling, and publicity.
Track and report attendance for Catholic services, programs, and events.
Support preparation of
AMS quarterly clergy reports
and other required documentation.
Maintain accurate administrative records and submit reports in a timely manner.
Education and/or Experience Required:
Practicing Catholic in good standing.
Ability to obtain
Catechist Certification through AMS
within 90 days of contract award.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
Professional demeanor appropriate for a military religious environment.
Ability to successfully complete a
Tier 1 background investigation
(post‑hire requirement).
Preferred Skills:
Experience supporting Catholic parish administration, religious education, or ministry programs.
Familiarity with Catholic liturgy, sacramental preparation, and parish communications.
Experience working in military chaplaincy programs or structured institutional environments.
Experience coordinating calendars, bulletins, and community events.
Work Environment & Schedule
Approximately
7–8 hours per week
(estimated
394 hours per year ).
Flexible schedule aligned with the Catholic liturgical calendar and approved events.
Some evening, weekend, and holiday support required.
Work performed
on‑site at Fort Irwin, CA .
Security, Eligibility, and Compliance Requirements
Must meet installation access requirements, including a
Tier 1 background check .
Must comply with all applicable Army Garrison and Chaplain Corps policies and procedures.
Must adhere to confidentiality standards when handling parish records and sacramental documentation.
