Job Description This is a Federal Work Study position at Norman Public Schools - Indian Education in Norman, OK.

Literacy Tutor Duties:
Norman Public Schools Indian Education is hiring part‑time tutors to provide literacy tutoring to children in grades Kindergarten to 5th. Orientation will be conducted upon hire. Tutors will meet with 4‑6 students a day, as schedule allows, and provide tutoring sessions in 30‑minute increments two times a week. Sessions are scheduled during the school day (7:45am‑3:00pm). Tutors will receive training, tutoring resources, and administrative support as needed. Tutors will monitor student progress by recording progress reports of each session. Orientation ensures tutors are comfortable with the curriculum and resources. Additional training will be required throughout the semester (e.g., CPR/First Aid and recognizing/reporting child abuse).
Job Requirements Required Education:
Must be currently enrolled in the Spring semester as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status and background check performed by Norman Public Schools Indian Education.
Must attach Spring 2026 ONE class schedule Must have received and accepted a Federal Work Study award in ONE for the Spring 2026 semester
Skills:
Previous tutoring experience (preferred, not required) Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak in English Enjoys working with children
Department Preferences:
Seeking a degree in Education or English Schedule flexibility to accommodate operational hours
Advertised Physical Abilities:
Must be able to bend, stoop and occasionally lift Must be able to be involved with physical activities
