Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative (MLEC) is seeking a Technology Technician II to join our Information Technology and Broadband team. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional technical services, supporting fiber installations, and ensuring high standards of customer service for our members.
What You’ll Do
Install, configure, and test premise equipment (ONTs, routers, Wi‑Fi) using optical power meters.
Perform fiber splicing, cable termination, and testing for Cat‑5/6 and coaxial cables.
Troubleshoot and repair GPON fiber connections and related equipment.
Assist members with connecting devices to Wi‑Fi and wired networks.
Coordinate with contractors for fiber placement and construction needs.
Maintain accurate documentation and participate in inventory processes.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and attend safety meetings.
Provide exceptional in‑home/business customer experiences.
Required Experience/Education
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Two years of advanced education or training in IT or a comparable technical field (or equivalent experience), and experience with technical support and installation of computers, routers, and networking technology.
Skills: Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities; knowledge of building construction for efficient cable routing; proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, and related devices.
Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Preferred Education/Experience
Cooperative or telecommunications industry experience.
