About the Montana State Library MSL is an agency of the Montana state government. We employ a staff of 50 professionals dedicated to providing statewide library information and support, state government information, natural resources information, and geographic information for all Montanans. Position Overview You will be the subject matter expert designing materials and curriculum for the Montana Shared Catalog (MSC) Training Program, creating, maintaining, and presenting training materials online and onsite for MSC member library staff.
Key Responsibilities
Lead training efforts by scheduling, communicating, organizing materials, and providing training on all facets of the integrated library system.
Create and update training resources.
Survey and assess provided training.
Provide technical support and assistance for member libraries.
Respond to first‑level help desk tickets to resolve user access issues.
Assist other MSC staff with developing solutions for system conflicts.
Qualifications We require a bachelor’s degree in education or information technology and at least 2 years of experience working as a trainer and help desk support. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, skilled in public speaking, able to perform in‑person and online training.
Understanding of information technology principles and practices, familiar with library administration, cataloging and circulation procedures and standards, and experience configuring and resolving problems in an integrated library system (ILS).
Preferred: experience with instructional design principles, learning theories, managing an LMS (e.g., Moodle), and library automation systems.
