Principal Duties and Responsibilities
40 hours per week according to the school calendar and as directed by the principal. Vacation is the month of July.
Performance of confidential administrative responsibilities necessary for an efficient and effective school office.
This position is one of the main points of contact for school families, students and visitors to the school and works closely with the parish office.
Positions main tasks are daily attendance and managing teacher and TA substitute assignments.
Flexibility and adaptation to change are necessary functions of the job.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Greet, assist and direct guests, workers, visitors and the general public – this includes the use of our electronic door security system.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records, staff information, and all sensitive administrative matters in compliance with FERPA and school policies.
Serve as a trusted partner to the principal, anticipating needs and managing priorities efficiently. Handle confidential communications with discretion, including emails, phone calls, and in-person interactions.
Administers medications and provides health-related care to students with compassion and respect for their dignity, maintaining strict confidentiality and accurate records in accordance with school policies, medical guidelines, and Catholic values.
Organize, track, and manage documents, schedules, and meetings with precision and attention to detail.
Assist in the preparation and review of sensitive reports, memos, and correspondence.
Monitor and record student attendance daily.
Assist the assistant principal as a point of contact for teacher absences, and help secure teacher substitutes for those absences (may require time in the morning after 6:30 am).
Direct employees, guests and general public to the right staff member.
Demonstrates clear, professional written and verbal communication with students, families, and staff; can convey information respectfully and accurately.
Provide office support services so as to ensure efficiency.
Able to tend to students who need a band‑aid, ice pack, temperature taken, etc.
Provide word‑processing and clerical support.
Sort and deliver the mail to appropriate staff.
Maintain a common filing system and file all letters, pieces of information as needed.
Provide administrative services to the principal and assistant principal.
Proficient in managing student information and records using FACTS, spreadsheets, and other school systems; able to maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation.
Education and Experience
High school diploma required. Must be Safe Environment trained before employment begins.
