Overview
Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PCPF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. This department ensures all facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards. PCPF oversees construction of new facilities and modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives, delivering world-class cancer care to patients.
The ideal candidate holds a valid Journeyman Electrical License and brings hands-on expertise in electrical systems and maintenance. They are flexible and willing to work across all Houston-area locations, including League City, West Houston, The Woodlands, Northwest Houston, and other areas. The work schedule is Tuesday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM. The work location is based in the Texas Medical Center and may travel to all Houston-area locations as needed.
Responsibilities
Provide skilled electrical work at the journeyman level in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment.
Interpret instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams for installation of electrical systems; estimate costs and order materials as needed; coordinate technicians and mechanics’ workflows; investigate outages.
Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems to ensure proper functioning and maintain O&M inventory.
Perform preventive maintenance of electrical panels, transformers, and other electrical systems; assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment; provide back-up support for other crafts.
Participate in walk-through inspections of construction projects and create punch lists for discrepancies; respond to and document customer calls and provide customer services.
Maintain critical alarm systems and respond to all critical equipment alarms; assist with emergency responses for facilities as needed.
Document corrective actions, labor hours, and materials on work orders; promptly communicate issues to supervision.
Coordinate and monitor activities as required for efficient operations and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship
Experience
Required: One year post-journeyman experience in commercial/industrial electrical work involving interior and exterior wiring and the repair of electrical equipment and systems
Licenses and Certifications
Required: Journeyman Electrician Texas
Required: Master Electrician Texas
Preferred: Texas Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C) and eligible to drive state and institutional vehicles
