General Overview Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct delivery of patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients.

Background Allegheny Valley Hospital is a 188‑bed community, union hospital serving the surrounding neighborhoods of Natrona Heights. The Emergency Department is a fast‑paced, 23‑bed unit with 5 fast‑track beds and dedicated areas for mental health crisis/behavioral health needs. It is stroke‑certified, providing efficient care for high‑level patients and, although not trauma‑certified, handles one of the largest patient intakes in the network, serving patients from three counties.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform a comprehensive patient assessment to identify patient needs. (25%)

Develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care. (20%)

Perform and document direct patient care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice. (20%)

Identify and respond to patient condition to achieve positive patient outcomes. (20%)

Direct and delegate care provided by ancillary team members. (15%)

Qualifications – Minimum

Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Current State of PA RN licensure or Current multi‑state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)

CPR certification
