EAST CENTRAL OHIO SPECIAL EDUCATION RESOURCE CENTER, Frankfort, Kentucky, United States
In coordination with Newcomerstown Exempted Village Schools, East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a qualified individual to join the team as a One-on-One Aide. This position will work directly with the student to assist with classroom support at
Buckeye Career Center .
The following duties and responsibilities are representative of performance expectations, but are not considered all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as necessary:
Works with the individual students according to the teacher’s instructions
Helps student learn appropriate skills based on developmental level
Offers help when students ask or their behavior suggests they need assistance
Supports an inclusive educational environment and helps the student participate in appropriate peer group activities as directed
May be required to assist students with mobility needs and/or assistive or augmentative devices
Supervises non-classroom activities as directed (i.e., arrival/departure, lunch, field trips)
Works with teacher to address behavior problems; assists with intervention and/or intervention plans as needed
Follows standard safety procedures, sanitation processes and personal hygiene rules
Performs clerical work related to classroom activities and prepares classroom equipment for use
Participates in staff meetings, parent/teacher meetings and other conferences as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma
Valid Ohio license or permit appropriate for the assignment
ESEA qualification may be required
Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
Previous experience working with school age children preferred
Skills & Abilities:
Performs work activities with limited supervision
Proactively addresses student behavior; reacts to interruptions and changing classroom conditions effectively
Uses verbal and nonverbal skills to communicate with staff and students
Completes paperwork accurately and verifies information is correct
Exercises self-control when dealing with difficult situations and individuals; must have strong diplomacy skills
Ability to assist students with disabilities (i.e., mobility issues, transferring, positioning, etc.)
May be required to successfully complete training in communicable disease, child abuse & neglect, CPR, first aide, and/or behavioral management
Additional Details:
Approximately 30 hours per week
Salary based on experience and the approved salary schedule
