Temporary Summer Camp Staff - Ellerbe, NC We are looking for responsible, enthusiastic individuals to serve as positive role models and mentors for youth ages 5–17 at our American Camp Association accredited summer camp. Qualified candidates will possess patience, fairness, compassion, resilience, great listening skills, and have a passion for the outdoors, fun and developing young people. You will help provide a fun, caring, safe environment in which young people will learn to appreciate nature, enjoy the challenges of adventure activities while creating lasting friendships and memories. You will deliver age appropriate, predetermined curriculum in a variety of camp activities including target sports, ecology, crafts, swimming, boating, hiking, team challenges, high ropes, photography, sports and games, and/or rock climbing. Applicants are required to reside on site and in cabins with children.

Jr Camp Counselor Responsible for the daily care and supervision of up to 10 children aged 5 to 17. Paired with a co‑counselor to support supervision. Foster and maintain positive developmentally sound relationships, assist with personal care as needed, be attentive at all times, and assist with camp activities such as target sports, rock climbing, crafts, and aquatic activities. Pay starts at $290.

Camp Counselor Similar responsibilities as Jr Camp Counselor overseeing up to 10 children. Pay starts at $300.

Health Care Coordinator Responsible for general healthcare of campers: organization of medical forms, dispensing medications, providing first aid, and responding to emergencies by calling appropriate medical technicians. Pay starts at $425.

Wellness Coordinator Supports mental, emotional, and social well‑being of campers and staff. De‑escalates high‑stress situations, provides guidance, documents incidents, and ensures follow‑up. Works with Program Director to monitor ongoing concerns. Pay starts at $425.

Program Coordinator Upholds risk‑management standards, ensures camp programs are delivered safely, conducts quality checks, and manages program materials. Pay starts at $425.

Logistics Coordinator Manages cabin and cleaning supply inventories and operational resources to keep camp organized and equipped. Pay starts at $425.

Head Counselor Supports staff management: scheduling, performance communication, and healthy team dynamics. Ensures staff have support and resources to perform effectively. Pay starts at $425.

Work Schedule Workdays begin around noon on Sunday and end around noon on Friday. Positions require responsibility and attention to detail; staff will be with campers 24/7 during meal times and activities.

Requirements and Preferences

High School Diploma or equivalent

American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED certified

Prior experience in camp or informal education setting

Prior experience working with children

Positive attitude, professionalism, love for sharing knowledge with children, ability to work independently & follow directions

Enjoy working with youth in an outdoor environment

Work Schedule 40+ hours per week.

Recruitment Anticipated hiring range: $290–$500 per week flat rate, dependent upon position.
