Job Responsibilities
Serves as a heavy equipment operator on the ROW Clearing Crew. Operates motor grader, front‑end loader, tractor with ditcher, and slope mower in the maintenance of highways. Performs manual‑labor duties such as clearing right‑of‑way, cleaning drainage and ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, paving driveways, laying side‑line/cross‑line pipe, grading and setting forms, laying bricks/blocks, repairing and building, pouring/finishing concrete/cement for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, catch basins, etc. Provides traffic‑control operations for work zones, including flagging traffic for the safety of crew and public during various phases of roadway maintenance. Assists in emergency and inclement‑weather operations and is on call for after‑hour emergencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Requires attainment of a Class‑A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement.
Physical Requirements
Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight and material.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
May be required to work outside normal work schedule, including inclement weather and emergencies.
Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, oil or grease on a daily basis.
