Job Overview

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Austin State Supported Living Center is seeking a DSP IV – Campus/Shift Coordinator to coordinate and oversee shift activities, ensure adequate staff coverage, and provide coaching and in‑service training to staff. The position is regular night shift, full time, nonexempt, and requires a Texas driver’s license and background checks.

Responsibilities

Coordinate all campus‑based direct services and supports for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Maintain continuous monitoring of homes, infirmary, activity centers, and grounds, addressing unusual occurrences, emergencies, and incidents immediately. Ensure adequate staff coverage, reassign staff as needed, and assist with personnel issues and workplace conflicts. Provide on‑the‑job coaching, in‑service training, and performance documentation for direct support staff. Act as the primary contact for abuse, neglect, serious incidents, and critical incidents, providing immediate response and coordination. Serve as a home/ unit supervisor when required, supervising and evaluating direct care staff. Conduct special audits, reviews, and monitoring as requested by facility administration to improve service delivery and safety. Provide assistance in transporting residents for scheduled activities or emergency situations. Participate in agency‑wide disaster response, recovery, and COOP activation as needed.

Qualifications

High school graduation or GED (preferred); 2+ years related experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Experience in a lead or supervisory role within a supported living or similar environment. Valid Texas driver’s license (preferred) or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to train and develop staff. Ability to make sound decisions in critical or emergency situations and to provide CPR and restraint training. Physical ability to perform direct contact duties and complete regular rounds over a wide area.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks, including CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, and LEIE. Males 18–25 must be registered with Selective Service. All employees are subject to random drug testing.
