Job Overview We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.

Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.

Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.

Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.

Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.

Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.

Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.

Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work‑related activities and time allocations.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.

Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings observed on Repair Orders (“RO”) using company‑issued iOS device and our proprietary TRAIT application.

Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.

Work independently and manage own daily schedule.

Maintain a high level of productivity and meet most Standard Repair Times.

Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.

Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings and notes.

Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or an alternative combination such as a higher degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience.

Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.

Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.

Must complete and pass a DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.

Valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be accepted in lieu of a DOT physical; otherwise a DOT physical is required.

Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.

Valid driver’s license required; candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
