Job Title:
Mill Operator - Weekends
Location: 50 Jetview Drive Rochester, NY 14624
Reports to: Machining Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Job Summary: The Mill Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of milling machines used in the production of various products. This role involves setting up, monitoring, and maintaining milling equipment, ensuring product quality, and adhering to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, strong mechanical skills, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
Operate milling machines, including CNC mills, vertical and horizontal mills, to produce parts according to specifications.
Oversee machines for production runs, including loading materials, selecting tools, and adjusting machine settings.
Monitor machine performance during production, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular inspections of in process and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
Document inspection results and report any quality issues to the supervisor, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Maintenance and Safety:
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of milling machines and tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery.
Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of production runs, including quantities produced, machine settings, and any issues encountered.
Complete necessary paperwork related to production, quality control, and machine maintenance.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other operators, production staff, and supervisors to achieve production goals.
Assist in training new operators on machine operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements and efficiencies.
Qualifications:
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise specifications.
Basic understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and production schedules.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to [weight limit, typically 25-50 pounds].
Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
