We are seeking qualified candidates for our Engineering Technician III position. The Engineering Technician III will perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, select and adapt standard procedures or equipment, and work independently with initial instructions from a supervisor or engineer.
Responsibilities
Construct components, sub‑units, or simple models or adapt standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions. Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and sub‑units of equipment. Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures and subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data. Assemble or construct standard equipment or parts following specific instructions. Service and repair simple instruments or equipment as directed. Conduct tests using established methods and operate test equipment. Prepare test specimens and accurately record and verify test data. Extract and process engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation. Identify deviations caused by equipment issues or observational errors. Present processed data in prescribed formats for engineering review. Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and use judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information. Operate within specialized, hazardous research and test facilities using required certifications. Requirements
Minimum Qualifications US Citizenship required. Candidate must have at least 3 years of relevant experience. Must have or be able to obtain a NASA public trust. Physical Requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, include: lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs/ladders, pulling cables/wires. Must use proper PPE for all tasks. Must be able to provide semi‑professional technical support for engineers working in research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Candidate must have some practical knowledge of science or engineering. Must be able to communicate with peers, supervisors and customers. Candidate must be able to work independently or in a team. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions (with or without a reasonable accommodation). Benefits
