Who YOU Are And What YOU Can Become As the Lead Composite Development Engineer, you will work on the Advanced Material team, supporting the development introduction of new composite materials onto aerospace components. You will focus on the industrialization of new materials from the test development through to application development. You will work closely with various internal functional groups (Engineering, Sourcing/Procurement, Quality, Operations) as well as outside entities, such as test labs and research institutions, and material suppliers. The support ranges from developing part manufacture techniques to material testing and data analysis.

As the engineer, you should demonstrate an ability to work with limited to some supervision, and in collaboration with others, effectively interfacing and integrating their activities within the engineering organization and with external entities. An ability to establish and manage multiple projects within time constraints is required. You will also be responsible for timely identification and communication of project obstacles to engineering technical leads.

What YOU Will Do (Responsibilities)

Lead new composite material testing and application development

Manage stream of materials for testing and analysis

Support finding new materials to solve critical product level problems

Plan, Develop and Execute material screening and testing

Application Specific Support

Support suppliers or early‑stage application of new materials with part fabrication and test development

Composite part development to support material use cases

Strategy development of application for advanced material use cases

Team Leadership

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to development team and to engineering technicians

Skills

Critical Thinking: Understand business and technology development strategies

Execute material testing and create material database to support the overall advanced material strategy

Able to communicate and present application opportunities that support the broader vision

Communication: Create and communicate development strategies and progress to senior leadership

Effectively liaison with the other functional groups to support development projects

Effectively communicate with external entities on application and testing progress

What YOU Must Bring To Succeed (Qualifications)

Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or associated engineering discipline with relevant material development experience

5 or more years of experience in composite material development or engineering relating to developing composite material and structures or aerospace structures

Experience in manufacturing and engineering technology development

This position involves access to export‑controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. A ‘U.S. Person,’ as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62, includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residence (green card holders), and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in the United States. To be considered for this position, you must either be a U.S. Person or fall within a legally recognized export control exception or authorization. If hired, you will be required to provide valid proof of such status.

Estimate salary range for this role: $92,000 to $138,100 per year. ST Engineering considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
