Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Flex Pool (Days)
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Hours: 36 hours per week after orientation (no guarantee of hours)
Positions Available: 3
Position Overview We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for a Flex Pool role to provide high-quality patient care across multiple medical and surgical units. This role requires adaptability, strong clinical skills, and the ability to float between assigned units based on patient care needs.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, effective nursing care to adult patients in medical-surgical and step-down settings
Float between medical, surgical acute, and progressive care units as needed
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, wound care, and monitoring
Manage equipment including wound vacs, chest tubes, and medication dispensing systems
Document care accurately using the facility’s EMR system
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Units Covered
Medical Acute Unit
Surgical Acute Unit
Progressive Care Unit
Cardiovascular Unit (rare occasions)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios
Medical Unit: 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
Surgical Acute Unit: 1:6
Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4 (ratios may vary due to unexpected staffing needs)
Required Qualifications
Active Hawaii RN license (must be obtained prior to assignment start if not currently held)
Minimum 2 years of RN experience (up to 10 years accepted)
Current BLS certification
ACLS required
Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
Equipment & Systems
EMR: Meditech / Epic
Pyxis medication dispensing system
Wound vacs and chest tubes
Orientation & Training
Unit-specific orientation provided for each assigned department
Additional Requirements
Ability to work day shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
Flexibility to float between units
Professional nursing attire required (clean scrubs)
Medical and religious exemption requests will not be accepted in lieu of documented proof of immunity
Must be available to arrive prior to assignment start to complete employee health requirements
